Klangforum Wien is an internationally active ensemble for contemporary music. It consists of 24 musicians from ten countries who specialise in performing premieres of new music.
The supervision and awarding of the Erste Bank Composition Award is part of our collaboration with Klangforum Wien. The ensemble performs the prize-winning composer’s work, usually as a premiere during the WIEN MODERN festival. Another important element of the composition award is the production of a CD, released by the label Kairos.
Klangforum Wien is engaged in outreach work to make the new music of the last 100 years accessible to a young audience. Through the support of our partnership, it is possible to invite young people to concerts, rehearsals and workshops on new music.
